A note on why I am right

Greetings to all!!! I have come here tonight to tell you why I am right!

"But Damien, what are you right about?!"

I am right about everything and nothing all at the same time!!

"But what does that mean?"

Continue reading and I will tell you!

I am right. And usually you are wrong. Sometimes both you and I are right, but mostly it is me being right and you being wrong. Am I right because I'm a male? No. Am I right because I am white? Nope. Am I right because I was in the military? Nada. Am I right because I am kind of a big deal? Not even close.

Well why am I right?

I am right not because I have correct answers are am able to argue fairly well. I am right because of my lifestyle. When I don't understand something, I ask questions and read about the topic at hand. Not just from one source, but as many as I can read from.

I am right because I don't need you to be wrong when we have differing perspectives. It would be like if a wolf and an eagle discussed what the world was like. They're both right, but only from their perspectives.

I am right because I don't need to belittle someone for voting for someone different than myself. As an avid fan of a Democratic Republic, I believe it is a citizen's right to vote for whomever they wish to vote for and I love discussing the different reasons why people vote for whom they vote for. Do you know why? (Keep reading and you will find out!)

I am right because I like to understand where someone is coming from. Too many of us listen only so that we can know how to respond, while very few people listen so they can understand.

I am right because I don't need to be right.

I am right because I am willing to change my perspectives on things over time based on self-study, educating myself, and incorporating others' views into my life.

The list really could go on and on, but I think you get the point. In the end, I am right not because of any quippy answers, or contextual superiority (though I have a lot of both!!), but because of right living. I treat people, not as equals, but as unique individuals that have a wealth of knowledge to share. I treat knowledge, not as something to be used to aggress at someone (though I do have moments of weakness and like to laugh at the expense of others from time to time), but to grow and flourish as a human being.

Well, there you have it. If you or anyone you know wish to be right, follow at least some of the things I have laid out before you in this blog and you too will be right!

Godspeed
